Found Still Life
I found my still life in my kitchen, where our marimba is kept. The mallets were placed on the marimba in an interesting way. I experimented with taking pictures from different points of view and the one I chose has an interesting depth of field. There's shadow near the foreground and the yellow of the background leads your eye further into the photograph. This photo represents my interest in music and how important it is to me. And yes, there's a marimba in my kitchen.
Studio Still Life
I selected a really awesome accordian to photograph. What really caught my eye about it is how the blue of the keys contrast with the orange of the case. I left it in the case in front of a black background. In some photos I tried to make it dark and shadowy by adjusting the studio lights, and in others I made the light reflect off of the vinyl shell of the instrument. I think the fourth shot is the strongest because is it closer to the keys and has a deeper depth of field. Te keys draw the viewer's eyes into the photo more than the others.
